The Great Eight is a series of action and adventure books about three gifted strangers who need to come together to defeat eight hidden global leaders. There's car chases, gun battles, computer hacking and everything else you would expect in undertaking such an endeavor.
The three main characters are Idris (New York Police Detective), Chris (Computer Hacker and Thief), and Bulkan (A nomad from Africa and skilled fighter).
The Great Eight members are located in different countries around the world and collectively have the power to do anything they want - and they do. Part One starts with an undercover operation in New York, before taking us to Egypt to face the most fearsome female member of the Eight - Alyssa Billie.
When you take three very different people and ask them to save mankind against total destruction, don't expect miracles. They're not trained for this mission, they're not even sure if it's real, but they're about to find out.
If you're looking for something fun, adventurous and different* to read, then this debut novel from a DJ with a 'C' in English isn't a bad place to start. The series will include at least three books, but more likely four or five.
*An alien has a very minor part, not tinkering in any way, and he definitely does not look like Denzel.*

Darren is a professional DJ using the stage name DJ80.
His main business is called 'Just School Discos.com', which was launched in 2017/18, and this is the largest independent school disco provider in England. Darren DJ's all his events personally and as well as schools, other children organisations also rely on him for their big events.
Darren is a micro influencer on TikTok and you can find his channel by searching for 'Just_School_Discos'. He regularly posts updates about his gigs, his books, car modifications and also nature.
His primary aim of the TikTok channel is 'To Inspire'.
Darren completed a creative writing course at Collyers Sixth Form College in 2018 and started writing 'The Great Eight Part One' during the covid lockdown, completing 66k words. After rebuilding his school discos business, he finally focused on completing the book during the four weeks between December 2025 and January 2026.
Darren edited the book himself, which included 4 digital redrafts, and a fifth and final draft after receiving the paperback proof copy in early March 2026. This wasn't to save money, but instead because he wanted the book to be entirely his own work, warts and all. Darren chose to self publish as opposed to traditionally publish, so the story could be told in it's truest form, rather than a gate kept version.
Darren is a kind hearted, fun loving, middle aged manchild. Expect his stories to reflect this.
